Steven Roger Simpson, age 64, of Richland died September 5, 2012 while battling colon cancer. He was born in Richland on September 23, 1947 to Dean and Florence Simpson. Steve graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1965 and received a BA in Mass Communications and Instructor Credential from Cal-State University in Fresno.

Steve served as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He worked for Westinghouse Hanford as a trainer/videographer/senior communications aide; completed various contracts in Washington D.C.; co-founded ADOTO (an online apparel fit software company); and held a variety of Senior Instructional Designer contracts in Seattle.

Steve is survived by his wife, Ruth Rush-Simpson; children: Amanda Simpson, Amanda (Anna Ehlers) and Tyson (Krystyn) Rush; sister, Margaret Lee; niece, Cristin (Cameron) Cox; nephews, Devan and Jeremy; four grandchildren; one grandniece; and countless lifelong friends.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 1pm to 4pm at the Hampton Inn in Richland.

Graveside services were Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Desert Lawn Cemetery in Kennewick at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, or to American Cancer Society are encouraged.
