December 31, 1946 - March 5, 2022

Randy Simmons

Atlanta, Georgia—Thomas “Randy” Simmons died Saturday March 5, 2022.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Shiranne Davis Simmons; daughter and son-in-law, Aimee Simmons Connolly and Michael Colin Connolly; a son, Jeffrey Simmons; two grandchildren, Connor Connolly and Bridget Connolly; two sisters, Sandra Simmons Fountain ('68) and Denice Simmons Lovejoy ('77 honorary). He was preceded in death by a brother, Royce Simmons, who was born April 21, 1954, passed away May 8, 1981.

Born on December 31, 1946, in Richland to Doris and Morris Simmons. A New Year's Eve baby who lit up the world like a bright noisy firecracker with a passion for life. The Simmons family lived near the Columbia River which was the source of family activities, and Randy became an avid lover of water skiing participating competitively.

Randy attended Marcus Whitman Grade School and Carmichael Junior High School. He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1965 and was offered a scholarship to Washington State University to play football and wrestle. Randy left an impressive footprint in the Palouse: participating in sports, member of ROTC Major in Air Force, President of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, received academic awards and participated in a guitar and singing group.

It was at WSU where he met his college sweetheart, Shiranne Davis, marrying in 1970. Upon graduation he worked for DatagraphiX that led to a successful career in document management. His path took the family from Seattle to the Bay Area, Tampa, New York and settling in Atlanta. After leaving the corporate world he started TRS & Associates.

Randy was a lover of life, collector of life-long friends and the ultimate entertainer, ready for a party that always included the guitar (sometimes accordion) and wine! He was a force of nature always giving 100%.

Please join the family in a “Celebration of Life” memorial honoring Randy on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, beginning at 5:00 pm at the Capital City Club; 53 W. Brookhaven Drive NE; Atlanta, Georgia 30319. Come with your memories and stories to share of “The Big Fellow".
