BOMBER MEMORIAL

JOHN ALAN ORREN ~ Class of 1965
July 22, 1947 - February 12, 2023

John Orren

John Alan Orren, 75, of Mukilteo, WA passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023, surrounded by his daughter and son, Megan and Matt.

John was born July 22, 1947, in Richland to Cleo (Johnson) and John Orren. He graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1965.

After high school, John was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served from 1967 to 1970 and, at one point, was deployed to eastern Europe where he guarded the boarder of Czechoslovakia.

After he left the military he started, owned and operated Pasco Motor Supply with his then wife, Cheryl. Following the closure of the “store”, as he referred to Pasco Motor Supply, John moved the family west.

He was employed as a machinist and spent several years at Boeing, from where he ended up retiring. His passions early in life were cars and taking any chance he could to “wet a line”, as he was an avid fisherman. On any given day he loved to tell you about his fishing trips and the fish he would catch. He was a friend to many and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved a strong black cup of coffee and a warm bowl of Ivar’s clam chowder - but most of all a great conversation with a friend or family member.

John Orren and former spouse, Cheryl (Sawyer) Cooper, had two children together who they adored. One of John’s biggest accomplishments was being a father and a grandfather. He had always wanted children and grandchildren, and he considered himself lucky enough to have two children and three grandchildren. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.

John is survived by his daughter, Megan Little; granddaughter, Lucile (Lucy), of Edgewood, WA; his son, daughter in-law and grandsons: Matthew Orren, Mikale Orren and Raymond "Ray" and Joseph "Joe" Orren, of Mill Creek, WA; and his brother and sister-in-law, Jay Orren ('68) and Judy Orren, of Casa Grande, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents.

We will be waiting for better weather to celebrate John’s life from 11am - 2pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Park on 609 Front Street in a large pavilion. If you are interested in more information and reminders of the event please email John Orren, and we will make sure to send updated information.
