Michael N. Jennings was born in Richland on July 31, 1946, and died of a possible aneurysm at his home in Kennewick on April 28, 1997.

Michael attended school with the Class of 1964 but graduated with the Class of 1965 from Richland's Columbia High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Evergreen State College in June 1977 and graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA in June 1987.

He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps after serving in Vietnam during 1968-1969.

In January 1971, Michael began his career in law enforcement when he joined the Kennewick Police Department.

Two years later, he married Judy Lorenzen ('70), also of Richland, with whom he had two sons.

Michael was happiest when hunting, fishing and camping with his family and his friends. Michael recently retired from his position as captain with the Kennewick Police Department after serving 26 years.

Michael is survived by his wife, Judy; sons: Kristopher (age 19) and Nick (age 16) all of Kennewick; his parents, Dusty and O. N. Jennings of Richland; his brothers-in-law, John Lorenzen ('64) and Jerry Lorenzen ('66); his sister-in-law, Jan Lorenzen ('77HHS); along with many friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara.

Viewing was from 2pm - 8pm on Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick.

Funeral services were at 1:30pm on Friday, May 2, 1997, at the Church of the Nazarene, 2402 S. Union in Kennewick with interment immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kris' and Nick's Educational Fund c/o Kennewick Police Department or Tri-City Federal Credit Union, or made to your favorite charity.

His brother-in-law, John Lorenzen ('64), passed away on February 27, 2021.
