RICHARD THOMAS "RICK" HALL ~ Class of 1965
August 21, 1947 - February 5, 2020

Rick Hall

Rick Hall - 2012

Rick Hall was born August 21, 1947 to Mary Jayne and Thomas "Cecil" Hall. He passed away on February 5, 2020 in Portland, OR.

He attended schools in Richland graduating with the Class of 1965 from Richland's Columbia High School. Following high school he graduated from Perry Technical Institute in Yakima.

Rick lived in Portland most of his adult life working as a Master Machinist who repaired large and complicated machines for lumber companies of the region.

Sailing was high on his list of passions. He loved taking visitors and friends for a spin on the Columbia, or just spending the afternoon sailing and hanging out on the dock of his yacht club.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jayne, on September 1, 2007 and by his father, Cecil, in 1991.

Family was of highest importance to Rick. When his mother wanted to stay in her Richland home despite physical disabilities, Rick simply retired, moved from Portland, graduated as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and took care of her. He was a family hero for that and many other acts of genuine kindness.

He is survived by his brother, John Hall ('60); sister-in-law, Connie Madron Hall ('60); nephew, Brian Hall (Daphne); and a great-niece, Samantha Morgan Hall.

The family is planning a Memorial Service for Rick at 3 PM on May 24, 2020 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ; 1126 SW Park Avenue; Portland. Friends who would like to attend are very welcome and should email John for details.

"Event Update for the Celebration of Richard Hall's Life"

"Dear Friends and Family ~ We realize this is a challenging time. With the current travel restrictions and inability to host group events, we have decided to move to a virtual model for Rick's Life Celebration. While we recognize that this will be a unique event, there will still be a sermon from the Minister at Rick's church, music, sharing, and the opportunity to come together to honor and celebrate Rick's life. Hopefully this will allow more people to attend who would not have been able to attend otherwise. The plan is to have the event on the same day and time that it was originally scheduled via the Zoom meeting platform. I will forward the web link and instructions for accessing the meeting in the coming weeks. In the meantime please stay healthy and safe, and feel free to contact me directly with any questions. Sincerely, Brian Hall nephew of Rick's."
