Gale Arlen Charles passed away on April 16, 2022, at Chaplaincy Hospice Care in Kennewick. He was born to Virgil and Lola Charles in Yakima on September 18, 1947.

Gale attended elementary school and junior high in Yakima, graduating with the Class of 1965 from Richland's Columbia High School.

He enlisted in the Army in 1966, serving as a Medic in Vietnam. After discharge from the Army, Gale attended College of the Ozarks and Central Washington State College, graduating from Central Washington State College in 1973.

He subsequently worked as a parole officer for the Washington State Department of Corrections. He left this position to work as a truck driver for the Hanford Project until his retirement.

Gale was dearly loved by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Tracy Shepard Charles ('73); son, Joel Charles; brothers, Gawain Charles ('71) (Patricia) and Glen Charles ('78) (Carol); sister, Diana Charles Carscaddon ('66) (Bob); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lola Charles.

There was a Celebration of Life gathering on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 at the Richland Community Center, Riverview Room in Richland.

CODA Alternative Cremation & Funeral, Kennewick, was in charge of arrangements.
